about Parna
“Pure art is an artist’s expression of his excitement or inspiration through the manipulation of available mediums into original and unique creations.”
Parna was born to an artist-painter father and singer and language teacher mother. He started painting around the age of six, and developed his skills and love for art by watching his father paint large compositions and portraits.
He studied at the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts, and upon graduating with his Master’s Degree, married his college sweetheart Matiko Mamaladze, who is also a fine artist.
Parna lives in Media, PA, loves the outdoors, and his work is inspired by everything that impresses and charms him, as well as his own unique imagination and vision.
“I don’t think a ‘truthful’ or exact rendering of an image onto a canvas fits my definition of art. It only becomes art when there is an original and innovative approach present, one that elevates a mere ‘transcription’ into an artistic transfiguration.”
Parna Surabischwili signs his works as “P. Zurabishvili” - a more faithful spelling of his last name as an homage to his roots in the beautiful Transcaucasian Republic of Georgia .
